I've taken a lot of risks. The biggest one? Saying exactly what I think. Selling like it's my job — newsflash, it is. Asking. Pitching. Being unapologetic about who I am and what I bring to the table.
The week my dad died, I still ran my business. Not because I wasn't sad — I was gutted. Some days I still am. But sad and shut down aren't the same thing. You can grieve and still own your shit.
That's discipline. Not a personality trait — a decision I make daily, regardless of what the week hands me. It's also just how I live: I take my coffee seriously, I move my body everyday, and I have never once regretted taking a risk on myself and my business.
Sixteen years running an online business. 500+ podcast interviews. A literary agent and a published book. Speaking engagements where people fly me out and pay me to get on a stage and talk — which would have sounded like a joke to me a decade ago.
None of it happened because I waited to feel ready.
I've bet on myself more times than I can count. Some of those bets flopped, hard. I'll tell you about those too, not just the ones that worked — because the flops are usually where the actual lesson is.
