It was a breath of fresh air. I began to realize that the freedom I felt/experienced on the coaching call was something I was created to enjoy and able to have in my life on a daily basis.

When you think of a leader, who comes to mind? Maybe Martin Luther King Jr. or Abraham Lincoln. Or perhaps you think of a modern day standout like Oprah.
While all of these people made considerable contributions to our world, there are countless others that are often overlooked.
For instance, to me, Snoop Dogg is the epitome of a genuine leader. If you’re a bit shocked, don’t be—there’s a thing or two that can be learned from this notorious rapper.
While at his concert last month, I was blown away by the manner that Snoop carried himself. As the lights above him on stage were malfunctioning, Snoop maintained his composure along with his cool demeanor. The entertainer conducted himself with such grace as the team worked to resolve the lighting issue, and then went on to deliver an unforgettable performance—completely unphased by the lighting mishap.
Thanks to Snoop, it was at this time that I realized that grace and power truly can coexist. The ability to possess both of these qualities in a balanced way is what gives a true leader his or her edge. The capability to be humbly strong is a trait that not many possess—yet it is not out of reach.
Further, Snoop showed me that when an individual owns his or her actions, that person’s being is beyond powerful. At the end of the show, Snoop Dogg shouted to the audience, “Peace, love, and smoke weed every day.” While I am not promoting marijuana usage, Snoop’s words stuck out to me as the crowd roared because he displayed how he proudly owns all aspects of his life. There is something to be said for a person who is responsible for his actions in their entirety, and maintains a “take it or leave it” mentality. I’ve found that people tend to develop a remarkable respect for such a person.
With all this in mind, take a second to stop and think. Apply Snoop Dogg’s ways to your own life. What areas of YOUR life are you failing to own? Maybe you struggle with admitting your mistakes, are reluctant to take on new challenges, or have trouble embracing your past. Whatever obstacles you face, you can learn to overcome them if you make the conscious choice to do so. Hiring a life coach can help you take the first step in truly embracing all of the many parts of you.
So do not wait. The time is now. Accepting responsibility for all of the facets of your life leads to authentic ownership, and authentic ownership makes you both a stronger leader and a stronger person in the end.
