Deep thoughts from the waiting room

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be a human in this world. I wrote this out while sitting in my therapist’s waiting room (not surprising). What you’re about to read is a free flow of my thoughts, unedited. I drop the occasional f-bomb. If that offends you, keep reading. You may just need to read this to spark something inside of you….

Life is a movie. People think that they have some sort of magic control over it. Others think the exact opposite and blame life, saying that its out to get them. The sooner you realize that life is just happening, the sooner you will understand what is happening to you and why it is happening.

People always wonder what the “secret” to life is.

There is no secret.

Life is just going about its business right in front of you–just as a movie plays on a movie screen. We are just in our seat, having no control over the plot, the characters, or what happens in the movie. It just happens. Therefore, when the “bad” stuff happens to us that is out of our control, you need to accept it as part of the plot, and not think life is “against you”.

I’m not saying you don’t have any control over what you do with your life, because we are all just a culmination of our decisions. However, when the bad stuff keeps happening to you over and over and over again, and you think to yourself “this isn’t fair” or “why me” etc.. this is something that everyone will experience at one time or another. It’s normal.

The sooner you let go of other people’s expectations, results, what you should do, what others think you should do, what your parents or your other relatives think you should do, what the world thinks you should do, society etc…

What you’ll be left with is your TRUE SELF.

This ultimately enables you to enjoy life and find something that you absolutely love and you can be extremely present in while doing. Doesn’t matter what it is. It is also KEY to not settle. As long as you are able to 100% say that you love what you are doing and you are completely present, and ALSO detached from any sort of results that come from it—that is all that matters.

This is the purest way to go through life.

The reason I say this is mainly because that during your short human life span, that we call existence, we are taught to do things for other people.

From day one we are taught, make Mommy and Daddy proud. This is ingrained. I have to get a good grade on this test so Mommy and Daddy will love me, I have to make sure I do my chores, my homework etc. It even carries on into our adult lives. It goes as far as determining our career paths, sometimes even who we should marry.

If you are an athlete, you may feel like, I need to get this drill right so coach will like me better, or think more highly of me. If you are at work, you are doing things for your boss, co workers, etc.. so people think highly of you in the workplace.

You may hate your job but it’s making you money right?

You may hate yourself and your life but as long as other people like me that makes it ok, right?

To this I say Fuck That.

Be your own person.

You obviously have to be a functioning human in society.

This isn’t a free pass to fall off the face of the earth and go live in your mom’s basement to hit the bong and play video games all day. This is a free pass to live and follow your true SELF in life of whatever you wanted to do.

NOT playing the victim role of saying “I could never do that” or “That person is just lucky” or “I wasn’t meant to”<<(fill in the blank). NOT doing what others wanted you to do or what society says is “right”.

BUT to also do it in a way that is completely unselfish, detached from ALL results including material objects, wealth, cars, big house etc.. That’s not what it’s about.

The sooner you realize that wealth lies within you and your experiences, the sooner you will understand Life.

This is the secret of success. You won’t know until you try it.

As always, delivering you truthful, blunt, and direct perspectives on Life from me to you. Thanks for joining me on this ride called Life.

Love, Vasavi Kumar
